Are you bored of your garden? Has it sat neglected and unloved for so long that you don’t even know where you will start with it? Well step away from the estate agents because you don’t need to move home to find a garden that you want to spend time in. There are plenty of simple ways to update your current outdoor space that will completely transform its look.
So, get outside in the fresh air and cut the overgrown grass, trim back the wild trees and bushes, water the plants and start to show your garden some attention. Once you have done that then consider these five ways you can update your garden, so you look forward to opening the curtains each morning to look out on it.
- Create a vegetable patch
Here you can grow your favourite fruit and vegetables from juicy strawberries, and raspberries to ripe tomato’s, sweet carrots and even fruit trees if you wish. There is nothing better than keeping the fruit bowl topped up and filling a dinner plate with food you have grown yourself. This will be a perfect project to add something new to your garden, as well as adding a splash of colour and saving you money on the weekly shop (bonus!)
- Build a pond
Building a pond is the perfect way to update your garden, as it can continue to be adapted and added to all the time. Creating one isn’t as difficult as you may think and you can always start small and change it over time. Having such a water feature in your garden will also attract a variety of wildlife that otherwise would not have resided there – including birds, frogs and beneficial insects.
- Bring life back to tired plant pots
Is your patio full of chipped and faded plant pots? Then take your plants out of these and re-plant them in some prettily designed and brightly coloured pots. Find some quirky pieces, like teacups and Wellington boot to add some character to your space.
- Add in a trellis or two!
A trellis can be used to separate areas of your garden – which won’t only make it seem bigger as areas lay further back waiting to be discovered, but it will also provide an area for plants to grow upwards. As well as having one to break up areas of the garden, you could also place one over garden furniture or up the side of your house to add further areas of height across your space. Choose a vibrant coloured flowering vine to really brighten up your garden.
- A raised flowerbed
A raised bed is fairly simple to achieve, but can completely change the look of your garden. There are many benefits to a raised flowerbed, but primarily it will add different levels to your garden, which will instantly update it. These can be bought, but are also easy to create yourself, which will allow you to choose a design
