Moving to a new house is always exciting like the thought that a new house means new neighbors, new views, new rooms, and a new location always lightens up your mind. Right? However, when the actual deadline by your landlord to leave the current house is near, each day becomes a struggle and that’s when you realize that moving home is an extremely stressful and financially draining thing. Due to the extra stress, you take to complete things on time you often tend to forget a lot of things you had to do and also misplace a lot of things. See I knew it, it’s okay, happens with everyone. So to ensure that you do not make a few common mistakes that people usually make while moving house, below is a moving checklist.

- Inform Your Banks, Company, Friends, and Relatives
This is extremely important because if you don’t inform your bank then there are chances that your important documents like credit card pin and your account summary could fall in a stranger’s hands and you don’t want that right? Trust me it’s riskier than it seems!
- Hire a Removal Company
I know you’re thinking about how you have already spent a lot of money buying things for the new house and how the removal company’s fee will further overrun your budget. But my friend letting a professional handle this stressful, tiring, and the frustrating job is always better, and removal companies are best for this. Plus doing it alone can also cause delays or messing things up or dropping that fragile carton in a hurry. Removal companies are an expert in this domain they will pack and unpack your stuff in a very organized way.

- Label the Boxes
So if you’re considering to do the shifting by yourself, the first thing you need to keep in mind is; never forget to label your cartons. It results in an organized shifting where you don’t have to open all cartons when setting up each room. Plus the chances to lose things and the total shifting time are both reduced.
- Avoid Moving On Fridays
The weekend is always a good idea to move right? I agree it is but on Fridays, the removal companies are bully booked so maybe you don’t get your booking or get it at a higher than usual price. Moreover, most of the estate agents are closed on Fridays so in case there’s an issue with the new house, you won’t have your agent’s back. So, hire man with a van on weekdays.

- Change Your Car Details
Changing details in the car ownership certificate, car insurance policy and driving license is very important because if you fail to update your address in the license or car ownership certificate, you will be heavily fined. Plus in case of insurance so it’s charged on location basis like if the company thinks that the new location has more security concerns so they will raise your charge. So it’s important to inform them.
- Finish the Food in Your Freezer
Do you want the food you cooked with so much effort to go bad? And then go to waste? I hope not! So it’s better that you either consume all the frozen food in your freezer or simply donate it to someone or shift it to your friend’s freezer until you have moved.

Great advice! We are moving at the end of next month.
I did not know that about moving on a Friday. We did consider it but a Thursday works better for us. Phew! x
