How to get a tween to say awesome, you ask him if he would like test some toys. How to get a tween to say awesome a lot, a big box arrives with said toys and you let him open it. My tween has a secret desire to be a super hero so when we were asked if he would like to try out the latest Light Strike toys by WowWee UK this was the next best thing.
He was sent 2 of the Light Strike Assault Strikers, 4 of the add-ons (enemy scanner, machine gun bi pod, refractor launch and scope) and a Light Strike ITS. Me being a bit unorganised I didn’t have the right batteries so for a few days all he could do was look at it and imagine what noises it would make. Once the right batteries were bought he then got down to the series business of playing. Neighbouring cats ran for their lives, anything that moved got shot at and even I was coaxed into trying them.
Trying to make some sense of his excited babblings I decided the best way to find out his thoughts was to ask him questions. The interview commenced.
You were lucky to receive two of the Light Strikes. If someone was looking to buy one for their son for Christmas which one would you say is better?
I cant choose out of the two that were sent to me as they both as good as each other.
You were also lucky to receive 4 of the add-ons. As these cost between £9.99 and £12.99 each, some parents might not be able to afford all 4 so which one would you recommend?
The scope, it helps when practising target shooting. The others don’t really add anything to it.
It took a fair few AA and AAA batteries to give the light and sound effects. How are the batteries lasting?
They still working a few weeks on but I do worry about the batteries running out. If it could have a rechargeable thing of some sort that would make it awesome.
The light strikes look really good but most of this is paper stuck on. This is obviously so that they can be made to an affordable market. Do you think the paper is a good idea?
Not really as it has already started to come off on one of them. But it does make them look really awesome and 3D-ish from a distance.
It has some pretty light affects; do you think this adds to the toy?
Mum you can’t say pretty that sounds girly but yes it does look good but when you were sneaking up on me I could see you a mile off.
What about the sound effects. They sounded pretty good to me, what do you think?
There good too but it would be cool if you could turn the lights and some of the sounds off as it would save batteries and would be like you’re in stealth mode.
You don’t have any brothers and we learnt that your teenage sister is far too cool to play with you. Would this toy suit a group of boys better?
Yeah on my own I can really only practising with the target thing which actually isnt very sensitive. I could shoot it round corners. If there were four of us with Light Strikes then you could play some really good games with them.
What’s the best thing about LightStrikes?
You don’t have to wear a vest or anything extra.
Ok Master Warrior before you go back to terrorising the neighbour’s cat what are your final thoughts on it all and would you happy if you had this for Christmas?
If you could turn of the lights and sounds and not had paper stickers it would be better and oh have a rechargeable thing of some sort. If I had brothers or neighbours kids had them as well I would be really pleased to get this for Christmas but as its just me I have got rather bored of playing it on my own.
