With the warm months finally returning many people will want to clear out their homes to free some space. According to the Daily Mail, less than half of adults now do a ‘spring clean’ each year with one in 20 admitting that they’ve NEVER had a big clear out of their home. This could be due to the fact that there just isn’t enough space for everything. If you find that you have too many things clogging up your home then it may be time to use a self-storage unit to hold your items and free up some floor space in your house.
- Free Space
Alligator Storage is a perfect example of a self-storage company that store both household and business items so that you can have more room for yourself and your family. If your garage is full to the brim with tools and extra appliances and items that you have no use for, storing them in your own unit will take the pressure off and leave your home free of clutter.
- Belongings kept Safe
The items that you have put in storage are probably safer there than in your own home as self-storage units are very well secured with 24/7 CCTV and combination padlocks to ensure that the only person who can enter your unit is you. You can then choose to share the pin code with your friends and family if they need to get in and out of the unit. Extensive security means that you don’t have to worry about your possessions – an added bonus to using a storage unit.
- Clean Room, Clear Mind
It is a well-known fact that a cluttered and untidy room can lead to a cluttered mind, often resulting in stress. By clearing your home of clutter and storing things in a unit, you will be able to take all that extra hassle and keep it locked away; out of sight, out of mind. By doing this you could even empty an unused room and transform it into an office which could be really beneficial if you work from home or run a home-based business.
- No Commitment
The good news about renting a storage unit from a professional company is the fact that you don’t have to make a long term commitment. You can rent it on either a weekly or monthly basis depending on the company. This means that you only have to give a simple notice, perhaps around two weeks, before you plan to remove your items from storage.
A short term contract means that you can come and go whenever you like and rent the unit for as long as you need to.
- Move Larger Items/Furniture
If you have extra furniture such as a spare bed that you want to move out of your home then a storage unit will offer the perfect resting place. You don’t have to do any of the heavy lifting as the self-storage removal men usually remove the furniture and heavier items from your home themselves. New self-storage companies and sites are opening each year according to the Self-Storage Association UK who recorded three sites opening in 2013 and 19 in 2014. It is estimated that 26 are expected to open in 2015.
