Filling Up Those Boring Long Evenings

Being a single parent isn’t always all doom and gloom. Yes there can be lots of problems and hard times but if you look at them as just challenges or hurdles to overcome it does become easier. Honestly it does.

One of the biggest challenges I faced where the evenings. Little people go to bed fairly early so after the initial rush around the house getting things straight there was a lot of long hours wondering what to do next.

First I switched to online grocery shopping. I worked full time and dragging two children around a supermarket at the end of the day was not my idea of fun. At least with online shopping I could shop what I needed one evening and get it delivered the next. That’s two evenings sorted.

Having a social life can be a bit tricky but I soon discovered that playing online bingo had its own social side. I could log in at any time of the evening and have a game of bingo whilst chatting to people in the side chat room. It was nerve wracking at first but they soon make you feel welcome and there is always an admin person there to help, answer questions and look out for you. I started an online distant course in web design. It was easy to fit in when the kids had gone to bed and if they got up or plans changed I could reschedule my study to another evening. Doing a course like this does take a bit of dedication as it’s down to you to get the study done. There isn’t a room full of students watching your every move or failed assignment.  This kept me busy the other evenings, soon my evenings where getting all booked up.

Lastly I discovered blogging. I met more people and also found a whole new world.

So if you’re hating the long evenings after your kids have gone to bed or hating the evenings you can’t afford to go out, why not turn it around to your advantage. Oh and I forgot to mention the lovely brand new sofas I am sitting on where from a nice little bingo win.
