This week has seen me do something I thought I would never ever do. Indeed if you had said to me a week ago that I would not only be doing this thing but also enjoying it and looking forward to it I would have fallen on the floor in laughter.
Running.
Anyone who knows me in the flesh knows I do not have a body fit for running. I have boobs that no sports bra has ever managed to cage successfully. I have the stamina of a sloth and my desire to run is that of a tortoise. I also had M.E stacked against me to make it impossible. Heck just getting out of bed was cause for a round of applause and the need to sit down and rest.
That was the hand of cards I had been dealt and not a happy hand at that. But life has a way of changing in a split second and you can be sure of it mine change too.
I’ll skip all the rubbishy bits and fast forward to the feeling fantastic bit. It’s almost like a switch has been switched on me and I have decided to start running. Couch to 5K app downloaded. Trainers dusted off. leggings found.
My first try of Day 1 Week 1 –
I am no slim bean and I really am doing the general public a service by not attempting this in the public. There are just too many wobbly bits to wobble. I cleared a route through the lounge and hall. It’s about a decent enough room to see if I could actually do anything more than a walking pace. App starts and a lovely chap says I am doing really well doing the 5-minute warm up walk. Bless him. “and now run” oh good grief this is it. I’m off. The cat hears my running and naturally doesn’t know what the noise is and ventures down the stairs to see what this new noise is. Her look is of pure shock. And so is mine. I can run.
I follow the app and finish my run/walk. I feel on top of the world. I bounce around the house like an idiot. I want to do it again but know I shouldn’t. I go shopping for running gear instead. Sports Bra. I need a sports bra
Day 2 I can’t wait to meet you
