Complete with out of comfort zone before and half way pic. (pssst its at the bottom) If you have been visiting some other planet for the last century you may be wondering what Couch 2 5K is. Well, it’s a gradual way to go from not being able to run to running 5k in one go without collapsing….hopefully. You download an app and you’re told when to run and when to walk. Easy see.
In Week 1, I begin with a brisk 5-minute warm-up walk, then alternate 60 seconds of running, with 90 seconds of walking, for a total of 20 minutes. So they were days 1, 2 and 3 for me. I found these easier than I thought they would be and gave me the boost that I needed that I could actually do this.
Week 2, was a brisk 5-minute warm-up walk then alternate 90 seconds of running, with 2 minutes of walking, for a total of 20 minutes. These were days 4,5 and 6 for me and I loved these as they were really easy to do.
I am now at day 7 which is week 7. I start with a brisk 5-minute warm-up walk followed by 2 repetitions of the following; 90 seconds of running, 90 seconds of walking, 3 minutes of running, 3 minutes of walking. Yes, that’s 3 minutes of running. In one go. With no stopping. And I did it.
I am sadistically pleased I didn’t enjoy the 3 minutes so much and did find it pushed me a bit as I was starting to wonder if I was secretly Zola Bud and no one had told me.
So with this running and the new healthy eating diet of fresh fruit and chicken am I seeing any changes? Well, there are some, I think. The bellies have gone, hips bones returning and energy levels through the roof. I am also coming off medications as the Doctor and I are exploring my M.E diagnoses. We think I was diagnosed wrong. This will have an enormous effect on my new life. I won’t not be able to do anything. I am not facing a life of pain.
So in the spirit of this whole new life thing also comes being out of my comfort zone. A picture of my progress so far. I don’t have many pictures of me in full Buddha belly mode as strangely I avoided the camera as I couldn’t stand the reflection back at me. But I have found one ( on the left) and one from today just before my run. I can start to see a change although I am only just about half way on my journey. But got to say I am so loving this journey. So …deep breath……insert pic
