It’s almost 2019 – the onus isn’t on the guy to pay for everything on a date, these days! If you’re going to be putting in your fair share, dating can feel like a bit of a financial burden, particularly around this time of year. Of course, we’ve all heard of “Netflix and chill”, but it’s hardly inspiring, is it? There are plenty of other ways to have a great date that are low-key and won’t break the bank.
Cook From Scratch
They say that food is the way to a person’s heart, and this is even more true of home-cooked food. Cooking for a partner, especially in the early stages of a relationship, is a sure-fire way to impress them (if you’re a good enough cook, mind you).
If you’ve got an amazing dish in your repertoire, now is the time to pull out all of the stops. If not, there are a myriad of recipes for romantic situations to be found online, to suit all tastes and dietary requirements. Just make sure you find out what those are before you cook!
Have a Games Night In
Watching TV or a movie isn’t really a good way to get to know someone, so why not play games instead? Getting competitive is a really fun way to test out someone’s sense of humour and bond, especially when things get really heated!
If you’ve never been much of a “gamer” per se, it can feel like a bit of a wasted effort to try against someone who may have been gaming for years. You can alevel the playing field with a different kind of game, though. For example a slot at an online casino. You may not be able to whisk them away on a date to Vegas, but you can create the vibe from your living room. They have themed slots, too, such as Guns n’ Roses or Game of Thrones, so they’re also a chance to discover your shared interests and likes.
Go on a Winter Walk
There’s nothing nicer than going on a long walk in winter, particularly when you get to hold hands and cosy up. This is particularly nice if it’s been snowing, but to be honest, we never know when that’s going to happen!
This is particularly more magical by moonlight. You get bonus points if you can somehow make it to a body of water, such as the ocean or a lake. These kinds of settings are ideal for getting reflective and perhaps having some deep and meaningful conversations.
Bake… Together
If cooking a meal from scratch sounds like a literal recipe for disaster, baking is somewhat more of a mutual activity that you can do together. If you’re both involved, you’re both equally to blame if it goes wrong, right?
There are so many things you can make together, and it makes for a really fun afternoon. It’s also a great way to bond and see how you’d work in a team.
When it comes to (potential) love, there’s no need for money. Just enjoy these cheap and simple date ideas, and see how you go.
