Picture the scene. It’s been a long week. The kids have been playing up, work has been stressful, there’s been drama with friends and family and your budget is looking less than healthy. That’s life, we all have weeks like this! When things get overwhelming, and you feel like you’re approaching burnout, just stop for a second. Take a breath, relax and arrange to have a little ‘me time.’ It doesn’t need to be anything expensive or complicated, just a few hours when the kids have gone to bed in the evening can be enough to put everything back into balance. Here’s how you can arrange the perfect pamper night at home.
Have a Hot Bath
A hot bath is the perfect way to start any pamper evening. You could luxuriate in some bath oils, salts or bubbles and just completely relax. Hot baths reduce blood pressure and heart rate and soothe tense muscles- exactly what you need after a stressful week. Treat your skin to a face mask and your hair to a hydrating hair mask while you soak away your troubles. Once you’re out of the bath, apply some rich body butter to your skin and a good quality night cream to your face. You can find great products at affordable prices in any drugstore or sites online. Check out some reviews before buying so you can get the best products for your money.
Change Into Some Cosy Nightwear
We might be into the spring season now, but it’s still fairly chilly especially at night- and will be for a while yet. Some soft, comfortable cotton pyjamas and a fluffy bathrobe like these from Richard Haworth are just what you need for a pamper night at home. If you’re due some new pyjamas it’s well worth treating yourself, you’ll be way more comfortable in the evenings and able to fully kick back and relax. Fluffy socks and slippers are always nice too, these might be the sort of things you receive as gifts, but you don’t need to wait until Christmases and birthdays for people to buy them for you!
Treat Yourself To Some Tasty Snacks
A hot drink is an excellent way to wind down at the end of the day, you could go with some soothing herbal tea, hot chocolate or decaf coffee. Coffee machines tend to be good buys these days, you can buy models that aren’t too expensive but allow you to make the perfect cup every time. The cost of the ‘pods’ to make the drinks are a little on the pricey side, but they’re perfect for an occasional treat. As well as coffee many can make a range of hot and cold drinks. Even if you try not to snack in the evening, it’s nice to treat yourself every now and again. If you want to go with something a little lighter, popping your own popcorn and adding a little seasoning is one option. If you don’t mind going a bit more indulgent, you could pick up whatever you fancy from the supermarket and save it for your relaxing night in.
Set The Ambiance
Starting with a clean and tidy room will help you feel much more peaceful and relaxed. Having a tidy round earlier in the day can make all the difference. You could light some scented candles to give a soft glow and gorgeous scent to the room. And add some comfy throws and pillows to the sofa or bed, wherever you plan on relaxing!
Find Something Entertaining to Do
It could be a couple of good films, a box set on Netflix, a book or a stack of magazines. It could be scrolling social media on your phone or laptop or doing some online shopping. Just something entertaining and easy, which you can do from the comfort of the sofa! Whatever you enjoy doing go for it, indulge yourself! Don’t feel bad for being unproductive, just enjoy having some time to yourself. It’s so easy to get access to media these days, when you can download books, magazines, films, stream tv and everything else it makes it easier than ever.
