We all like to dream that we could win the lottery one day, but the reality is that we probably won’t! That doesn’t stop us hoping though, and buying a ticket every now and then. These days, the choice of which lottery you play is far wider than it was a few years ago – it’s not only the UK National Lottery you can have a crack at!
Thanks to deregulation, people in the UK can play in all kinds of international lotteries as well. The most well-known of these in the UK is the Euromillions draw, which has the biggest lotto payouts in the whole European continent and with draws twice a week, there’s never long to wait to take part in it.
The fact that you can buy your tickets online has made the process of buying lotto tickets a whole lot easier. If you’ve got young kids, the last thing you want to do is stand for ages at the local shop with your brood waiting for the lottery queue ahead of you just to secure a ticket. Now, you can go online at a number of different sites and buy your tickets with a few clicks of the mouse.
Buying online is a great idea for us mums who have a tendency to lose things too. There’s no need to keep hold that little paper chit safe in your purse if you buy your tickets online; your ticket will be safely stored electronically. And when you want to check the results; that’s easy too. All you do is look up the results on the internet.
The Euromillions first draw took place in Paris on 13 February 2004. Nine different European countries now take part in Euromillions, and the jackpot has reached as much as 290 million euros. Last year an English couple won a staggering £148million on it, but sadly, even a win like that can’t guarantee happiness. Just over a year later, the Adrian and Gillian Bayford have announced that they are getting divorced.
