We now have a generation of youngsters who have known nothing but the digital age. They have been born since mobile phones became our third limbs and when computers became so small and portable we can now carry them in our bags. This can be seen as a mark in our progress and evolution but on the other hand its scary too. This digital age has brought medical advancement but is living longer really an advancement when we cant care for the elderly properly? When old age is something you have to save for all your life and is full of uncertainty.
We now have children that have been brought up with entertainment all around them, so much so that they haven’t learnt the how to entertain themselves. Take away all their devices and they would be quite utterly speechless. Seeing as the world probably isn’t going to have an electrical global meltdown anytime soon, not being able to entertain themselves might not be that big a deal. But what does it say about them? Their imaginations? Isn’t it from imaginations that new things are thought off and brought to life? I am all for advancement but only when its positive advancement.
I already see it in some children where they lack the ability to hold a conversation, to interact with other children. I see children not having simple life skills like the good old fashioned green cross code or table manners. I may just been rambling on as I am old and cranky but I also might be right and we are seeing the start of the failure of our own success.
