Most of us like to look good. It gives us confidence, and shopping is fun. As a result, the majority of women, and many men, are happy to spend time and money on their appearance.
However, sometimes life gets in the way. We run out of cash to buy new clothes or get so busy that we do not have the time to go shopping even if we have the money to do so. Gradually, things start to slip. One day you look in the mirror are really do not like what you see. If you follow these few tips, you can avoid that happening to you and be able to fix any issues immediately using what you already have in your wardrobe.
Own the classics
Everyone should own some classically cut clothes. These garments never really go out of fashion and always look good. They are also very versatile. For example, a wrap dress can be worn with or without a belt, and can easily be dressed up, or down.
The same is true of a little black dress. Worn with a smart jacket it is fine for the office, but swap that jacket for a glittery wrap, a nice clutch bag coupled with some basic jewellery and you are ready for a special date.
Another example is trench coats. They are always stylish, and they are fantastic for covering up a bad outfit while you slip to the shops for some milk.
Buy underwear that fits
For a woman proper fitting lingerie makes a huge difference to her overall look. The right fit is key. You really do not want to spoil the line of your dress by wearing knickers that are too small, so that they cut into your waist and create an unnecessary bulge.
As you get older, it really is worth adding some control style underwear to your wardrobe. That way if you feel a bit bloated, or have not had time to go to the gym for a couple of weeks you can smooth out your bulges, and still look your best.
Buy items you can mix and match
Whenever you go shopping look for items that blend in with your current wardrobe. This gives you the scope to mix things up a bit and create new outfits by combing what you have just bought with the clothes that you already own.
Good quality accessories
Owning nice looking, stylish accessories will make it easier for you to do this. Good quality, comfortable shoes, stylish handbags, and a few belts and a couple of scarves are all wardrobe essentials. If you like jewellery, add some of that too, so you can mix things up even more.
Shop regularly
To make sure you stay up to date it is important to go shopping regularly. If you are cash strapped go to the charity shops, or better still attend a local clothes swap. Clothing exchanges are fun, and they give you a chance to meet like minded people, talk about fashion, and try out new looks without spending any money. If you are short on time, try using an online clothes-swapping site instead.
