Tax Credits Renewal : Just in case you have missed all the adverts on tv or the bill boards notices, your tax credits renewal needs to be in by 31st July .Tax credits should have sent you a tax credits renewal pack in the post. You could have used the renewal pack to renew your tax credits but as the deadline is tomorrow you will need to give them a call and renew over the phone.
renewing your tax credits is important as ensures the tax credit department has the correct and up to date information about you and that they are paying you the correct amount. If they have paid you too much they will arrange a way for it to be paid back. If they haven’t paid you enough they will pay you what you are owed.
When you call the tax credits helpline to renew you will need the following information.
- Your National insurance number .
- Your password , if you have one .
- Your renewal pack.
- Details of any changes in your circumstances that you haven’t already reported.
- The amount of your total income for the last tax year.
If you don’t renew your payments will stop. You will have to pay back any overpayment.
Just a heads up if your struggling to get through there was a fault on the line yesterday after listening to the automated service for 3 minutes and selecting the option “renew tax credits ” it would tell you to call the number (you have just called) or say they are unable to take your call (and end the call) select the option to “to talk about something else ” – think this is option 6 ” then the last option on the 2nd menu (think this is option 5) and you will be put through to renew very frustrating but hope this saves you more time than I wasted ! š
