Today wasn’t very productive in the garden. I trying to keep out of the way today whilst the builders were fitting new fascias and guttering and trying their very best to get mess everywhere and the bless them they managed both. It was too sunny to be inside but too hot to do anything that productive apart from just sitting looking at the veg growing.
So what is actually growing in the veg patch at the moment?
Well the melon pear has started to produce tiny fruit. It is quiet exciting to be growing something that most people haven’t heard of. I hope it will taste as good as I am hoping.
Completely forget that amongst the runner beans I planted some corn on the cob. Despite being terribly neglected it has started doing something. What it is doing I am not quite sure of but least its not shrivelled up and died.
This year is the first year I have attempted cucumbers and so far I have picked two and there are more on the way. It really is true though that once you eat home grown shop bought just doesn’t taste the same.
The broccoli is on a world domination spurt. I am about 5 foot tall so by rough guessing the broccoli is now about 4 feet tall. I am not convinced this is correct and will be very surprised if it actually produces broccoli florets.
Another first, mange tout. I don’t really know what I was expecting flower wise but these two coloured purple flowers of the mange tout are really quiet exotic looking. (The blue bits are pegs holding the netting to the poles)
Lastly two questions – name the plants. The first I do know what it is and was something that got completely forgotten about and just left to do its own thing. Do you know what it is?
And what type of bean is this one? Sitting amongst the orange runner bean flowers I spotted white flowers so I have no clue what type of bean it’s going to produce. Any clues any one?

The first one looks like my Little Gem lettuce which has bolted – the leaves on mine taste really bitter. The second looks like my runner beans! My runners have White flowers the sane as in the picture.

Yep your completely right. The last lettuce to get pulled decided to bolt. Thought I would see what it did, has a flower now at the very top. Glad you reckon the bean is a runner as I was sure that was what I planted but half have orange flowers and other half white. Threw me a bit as I thought I was starting to loose my marbles.

That can not be broccoli? Something went wrong? Are you sure that’s what it is? Not Collard Green or some sort of leafy green. If you can even find the center… that’s where the broccoli would be

It definitely said broccoli on the seed packet. I will check what kind it is . But there is nothing in the middle where the broccoli would be. My neighbour thinks its because they a it too close together so went upwards. Certainly different lol
